Residents’ Preferences and Perceptions toward Green Open Spaces in an Urban Area

Green open space is an important part of the natural–social ecosystem, providing ecological services that maintain healthy development cities and society. Residents’ perceptions these benefits are largely related to their social-economic background as well familiarity with green spaces in neighborhoods. Understanding residents’ will contribute significantly urban planning by practical information facilitates needs. Using zone (UDZ) Wuhan, this study aims understand preference toward improvement, focus on linking between social factors, preference, views. In study, data collected through online questionnaire surveys interviews. The results demonstrate how respondents’ views vary which factors relate them. Significant changes natural reflected public’s perception functions spaces. Responses improving reflect pursuit affinity practicality. We conclude it better enhance public involvement views, helps recognize actual needs long-term planning.
